The purpose of this amendment is to post industry questions and answers. All terms and conditions remain unchanged. 

  1. Question: Is this a defense article subject to ITAR control? Answer: No.
  2. Question: Is this item under Export Control regulated by the EAR? (e.g. Dual-use products, aerospace & propulsion applications)  Answer: No.
  3. Question: Will the part be used with a laser or in a laser system?  Answer: Yes.
  4. Question: If yes, is this an intra-cavity optic? Answer: No.
  5. Question: Will this be exported and, if so, where? Answer: No.
  6. Question: Is there a specific application you are planning to use these parts? Answer: These samples will undergo biofouling and will then be analysed to characterize the nature of the biofouling.
  7. Question: Do you have any drawings/prints? If so, can you please provide them?  Answer: There are no drawings/prints.
  8. Question: Can you specify exactly what tolerances you’re looking for when you say “precision” and “commercial”?Answer: Diameter: Precision = +0.000/-0.025 mm
    • Thickness: Precision = +/- 0.050 mm
    • Chamfer: Commercial = +0.000/-0.100 mm
  9. Question: Are there any durability/environmental tests that these coatings will need to go through? Answer: No.
  10. Question: Is the infrared grade requested FS 7980 or 7979 as there is substantial price difference between the two ?  Answer: 7980 is required.
