Description

  1. This project includes construction of an asphalt trail connecting the upper visitor center to the lower Acastus Trail and replacement of 36” cmp.
  2. Earthwork item includes clearing and grubbing, removing asphalt, excavation and embankment. Remove and conserve existing trail material. Grade and prepare native subbase. Existing trail material is to be conserved and used for shouldering and subgrade of resting pads. Shoulder trail slopes at 1:10 (max) with existing compacted trail material. It is the intention that all existing aggregate materials will remain onsite.
  3. Aggregate base shall be 4” depth below asphalt. Asphalt trail shall have 6’ width, 3” depth and 2% cross slope (max).
  4. Aggregate base, asphalt and concrete testing per FP-24.
  5. Resting pads shall be asphalt with 4’ width, 6’ length, 3” depth and 2% cross slope (max) in all directions. Resting pads aggregate base shall be compacted with water.
  6. Concrete curb shall be NDOT Type 5. Spillway to culvert inlet is inclusive to curb. Concrete curb may be placed on compacted aggregate base. Native subbase shall be compacted with water. The grade will be inspected for soft spots and accepted before concrete placement. Backfill to top of curb with native material.
  7.  Corrugated metal pipe item includes submitting a proposed pipe plot for placement of 36” culvert. Design for minimum 5% drop. Removal of existing culvert, inlet stacked rock and outlet riprap are inclusive to new culvert placement.
  8. All work to extend asphalt trail and shoulders is inclusive to the option items
