End Item: This fan clutch is for the engine of the Heavy Equipment Transporter (HET) system – specifically the M1070 truck and M1000 trailer combination used to transport tanks and other heavy military equipment.
The Government does not have rights to the Technical Data Package (TDP) or specifications.
This component acts as a smart connector between the engine’s fan and its speed, regulating cooling based on engine temperature. Rather than running the fan constantly at full speed, the clutch increases fan speed when the engine is hot and reduces it when cooler, optimizing performance, saving fuel, and minimizing wear and tear on the engine. Essentially, it ensures the engine remains at a safe operating temperature during demanding operations.
