NM FLAP SR35(1) Grant County Bridges

Project Location:

The Grant County Bridges Project is located near Mimbres, New Mexico, in Grant County, along State Route (SR) 35. SR 35 serves as a 27‑mile highway providing access to the Gila National Forest, connecting SR 15 in Silver City to SR 152 in Mimbres.

The proposed improvements include work at four locations along SR 35:

  • Bridge 1330 — Milepost (MP) 0.5
  • Concrete box culvert — MP 4.65
  • Bridge 1873 — MP 5.2
  • Bridge 1876 — MP 8.42

Construction in Mimbres can be maintained through all seasons, but you must factor in cold-weather provisions for the winter months to ensure the integrity and quality of critical bridge and culvert materials like concrete and sealants.

SCOPE OF THE WORK:

The project includes reconstruction of three bridges and a concrete box culvert. Improvements would provide reliable and safe access to the Gila National Forest for local and regional travelers. Improvements to these structures would also benefit travelers by accessing residential and commercial properties along SR 35.

  • Bridge 1, a 80‑ft simple span: precast, prestressed I‑girders with a cast‑in‑place reinforced concrete deck.
  • Bridge 2, a 55‑ft‑6‑in skewed simple span: precast, prestressed voided slabs with a cast‑in‑place (CIP) concrete overlay.
  • Bridge 3, 36‑ft simple span: precast, prestressed voided slabs with a cast‑in‑place (CIP) concrete overlay.

Option X includes:
