REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI): Bb BUGLE
The Marine Corps is seeking information on professional level straight bugles pitched in the key Bb.
Instruments will be used to perform traditional military bugle calls aboard the
installation and taps at military funeral services. Instruments need to be capable of withstanding
extended use, poor weather conditions and frequent rigorous travel.
This RFI is intended to identify other brands other than STOMVI that supply these instruments.
Supplies being sought
Bb Straight Bugle 40 Each
Salient Characteristics:
• Instrument Specification: weight 1 – 2 lbs, #27 bell at 4 ¾” diameter, ML 64 mm
bore, trumpet shank receiver, 16” length, yellow brass body material, and silverplated
finish
• Keyed in Bb
• No pistons or valves
• Amado style water key
• Rings on the body of the instrument to attach a pennant or banner
• Heavy durable bracing throughout the design to withstand the rigors of travel and
performance
• Option for custom engraving

Salient Characteristics:
• Impact resistant exterior material such as polyethylene, ABS plastic or carbon
fiber.
• Weather and moisture resistant seals to prevent damage to interior facets.
• High-quality latches to prevent accidental opening during transport.
• Padded interior with soft, non-abrasive lining to prevent scratching.
• Secure instrument suspension to prevent resting on valves and/or slides.
• Interior foam molded to be compatible with item in CLIN 0001.
