As defined in the Assistive Technology Act of 2004 (P.L. 108-364), Assistive Technology Devices are "any item, piece of equipment, or product system, whether acquired commercially, modified, or customized, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities." Services will be managed by professionals with extensive knowledge and expertise in assistive technology, including RESNA (Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America) Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) certification.
