OM5 High Speed Fiber Optic Cable Installation
This is a Sources Sought notice/Request for Information (RFI) only. This RFI is issued solely for information and planning purposes - it does not constitute a solicitation, Request for Proposal (RFP), a Request for Quotation (RFQ), or an indication that the Government will contract for any of the items and/or services discussed in this notice. This RFI is issued in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 52.215-3. Further, NOAA is not at this time seeking proposals or quotes and will not accept unsolicited proposals or quotes. In accordance with FAR 15.201(e), responses to this notice are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. No award will be made as a result of this RFI, and the Government will not pay for any information submitted.
The purpose of this notice is to:
1. Determine if sources exist that are capable of satisfying the agency's requirements; and/or
2. Determine if commercial items suitable to meet the agency's needs are available or could be modified to meet the agency's requirements
Submission of a response to this RFI is entirely voluntary. All costs associated with responding to this RFI will be solely at the potential respondent's expense. Not responding to this RFI does not preclude participation in any future formal solicitation, if any is issued.
No proprietary, classified, confidential, or sensitive information should be included in your response to this RFI. If included, any information should be clearly marked as such. All information received shall be safeguarded from unauthorized disclosure.

REQUIREMENT
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) Office of Satellite Product Operations (OSPO) has a requirement for installation of OM5 Multimode Fiber Optic Cabling in various communications rooms and locations throughout NSOF. Contractors shall install system components and appurtenances in accordance with the manufacturer’s instruction. Provide interconnections, services, and adjustments required for a complete and operable data transmission system.
There is a total of 20 Fiber Optic Runs in approximately five (5) separate locations. The fiber optic cable shall be armored and shall consist of subunits bound together by a PVC outer jacket. Inter-building fiber shall be 50-micron multimode. Each sub-unit shall contain tight-buffered 50-micron fibers surrounded by aramid strength members, where the quantity of fiber strands is dictated.
The cable shall comply with UL rating 1666 [optical fiber, nonconductive riser (OFNR (Riser)) or UL 910 optical fiber nonconductive plenum (OFNP(Plenum))]. The outside diameter of each unit shall be 6.2mm making the overall cable dimensions 7.2mm x 13.4mm.
Fiber optic cable shall be and pre-terminated such that the termination of individual fiber strands at the patch panel is not required. Fiber strands shall be bundled into one connection point allowing for a quick connect/disconnect point at the fiber patch panel.
All connectors of a particular type shall be purchased from the same manufacturer. All connectors shall be LC-LC duplex. Inspection and Testing of fiber optic cabling shall be conducted in accordance with the Government’s requirements.

Interested parties are encouraged to submit a response which supports the company's claim that it presently has the qualifications and experience to provide, install, and test OM5 Fiber Optic Cabling that will satisfy the requirements above. Vendor shall meet all industry minimum standards for products, installation, and testing.
