Description
The United States Air Force, 96th Test Wing at Eglin Air Force Base, is conducting market research to identify sources capable of providing "Brand Name or Equal" Hyperspectral Imaging Systems (HIS).
The requirement is for one (1) Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) Short-Wave Infrared / Mid-Wave Infrared (SWIR/MWIR) system, with an option to purchase one (1) additional Mid-Wave Infrared / Long-Wave Infrared (MWIR/LWIR) system. These instruments are required for the remote detection, measurement, and real-time spectral analysis of materials and dynamic events in a field-testing environment.
This is a Brand Name or Equal acquisition. The Government has identified a specific product that meets its minimum technical requirements; however, this notice is intended to identify all sources capable of providing an "equal" solution. To be considered "equal," a proposed system must meet or exceed the Government's salient characteristics, which include, but are not limited to:
-
Spectral Performance: The ability to operate within the specified infrared spectral ranges (SWIR/MWIR for the base system, MWIR/LWIR for the option).
-
High-Speed Data Acquisition: Must achieve specified minimum scan rates at various spectral resolutions to capture data from transient events.
-
Integrated Turn-Key System: Must be a complete solution including a ruggedized, hermetically sealed sensor head, a set of three interchangeable telescope assemblies (x0.5, x2, x6), a co-aligned visible-light camera for bore sighting, a GPS/IRIG-B interface, and a dedicated control and analysis computer with operational software.
-
High-Fidelity Imaging: The Focal Plane Array (FPA) must meet minimum size requirements and contain zero dead pixels.
Interested parties should respond to the Sources Sought notice by submitting a capabilities statement that provides clear and convincing evidence of their ability to meet these and all other requirements outlined in the full announcement.

FAQ
How do I use the Market Snapshot?
It summarizes awarded-contract behavior for the opportunity’s NAICS and sector, including a recent pricing band (P10–P90), momentum, and composition. Use it as context, not a guarantee.
Is the data live?
The signal updates as new awarded notices enter the system. Always validate the official award and solicitation details on SAM.gov.
What do P10 and P90 mean?
P10 is the 10th percentile award size and P90 is the 90th percentile. Together they describe the typical spread of award values.
