DescriptionThe US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Pittsburgh District intends to award a sole source purchase order to Precision Laser and Instrument, Inc under the authority of RFO 12.102(a), restricting competition for acquisitions valued at or below the simplified acquisition threshold (SAT). This requirement is for renewing warranties. Trimble is the sole manufacturer of survey equipment and software utilized by the Geospatial section in LRP. The Trimble hardware and software warranties offered by Trimble are a yearly subscription-based plan that will cover Geospatials survey equipment and software under the Trimble Hardware Protection Plus plan and Trimble Software Protection Plus plan. The plans will cover everything that is included in the original Trimble hardware factory warranty with additional coverage for some accidental damage. The Trimble Software Protection Plus plan will cover all the firmware and software utilized by Geospatials Trimble survey equipment. This plan will give Geospatial access to update their equipment to the most recent releases by Trimble to keep the equipment operational and running at full potential.Sole Source Justification Trimble is the only provider of protection plans for the hardware and software they manufacture. Trimble does not sell their equipment or services directly but through authorized dealers. EDG-I utilizes Precision Laser and Instrument (PLI) as their sole source provider of equipment, services, and training. PLI is conveniently located in Ambridge, PA and is the only Trimble authorized dealer within 240 miles of the LRP District Office. Additionally, PLI has 5 locations within LRD that will be able to meet the requirements of the Government - Akron, OH, Bridgeport, WV, Columbus, OH, Huntington, WV. This purchase from PLI will improve the LRP Land Survey Program?s mission readiness by minimizing the down time of equipment and maximizing equipment utilization.A full Justification and Approval has been prepared in accordance with agency procedures and will be available upon request.
