6515-- Hologic ThinpPrep Genesis Intent to Sole Source

This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract and is not a request for quotes. The Department of Veterans Affairs Albany Stratton VAMC intends to award a Sole Source open market action contract for the purchase of a ThinPrep Genesis, item # PRD-04573. Name of Contractor: Hologic Sales and Service, LLC Street Address: 250 Campus Drive City, State, Zip: Marlborough, MA 01752 The Albany Stratton Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center located at 113 Holland Avenue Albany; NY 12208-3410 is requesting the purchase the Hologic ThinPrep Genesis instrument. Hologic is the only company that makes an instrument utilizing the thin prep system and approved by FDA for cervical cancer screening. Our Current T2000 ThinPrep instrument is outdated and has reached end-of-life use. This is needed to process cytology specimens to include gynecological and non-gynecological specimens. It is a stand-alone unit and will be put in place during delivery and initial training completed by Hologic representative. Hologic is the OEM of the item and sole distributor. No other LOA s have been granted, thus the need for a sole source award.
