The Work of Project is defined by the Contract Documents and consists of the following: 1. Notice to proceed: A written notice to proceed will be provided to the Contractor as indicated in the invitation to bid. The Contractor shall begin the work upon receipt of the notice to proceed. Notwithstanding any other provision of the contract the Owner shall not be obligated to accept or to pay for any work furnished by the Contractor prior to delivery of notice to proceed, whether or not the Owner has knowledge of the furnishing of work. 1.5 CONTRACTOR'S COPIES OF CONTRACT DOCUMENTS A. Contractor shall be supplied electronically, with one set of full -size drawings, half size reduced drawings and specifications. At least one complete set of contract documents, including one full- size set of drawings shall be kept at the site of constructi on in good condition, and at all times available to the CPM. 1.6 PERMITS AND FEES A. ODOT has submitted documents for plan review with the local Authorities Having Jurisdiction and will pay fees. The contractor shall pick up permits from the local building department. 1.7 CONTRACTOR'S USE OF SITE AND PREMISES A. Construction Operating Hours: Operating hours shall be limited to 0700 to 1700 Monday through Friday. Deviations from noted hours shall be with approval by CPM. B. Limits on Use of Site: Contractors lay down/staging area will be coordinated through CPM. Do not disturb portions of Project site beyond areas in which the Work is indicated. 1. Driveways, Walkways, Entrances: Keep driveways and entrances serving premises clear and available to Owner, Owner's employees, and emergency vehicles at all times. Do not use these areas for parking or for storage of materials. 1.8 EXCESSIVE NOISE A. All equipment shall have muffling devices in good working order at all times. Equipment not so equipped will be removed from site. B. Cooperate with Owner in locating high noise producing equipment in areas least offensive and/or provide sound enclosure or shielding to dampen sound. C. Coordination drawings. 4. Requests for Information (RFI's). 5. Project meetings. 6. Terms 1.2 DESCRIPTION A. The Contractor shall coordinate with the CPM during the duration of the project. 1. Coordination: Coordinate construction operations included in different Sections of the Specifications to ensure efficient and orderly installation of each part of the Work. Project closeout activities. 1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Throughout the progress of the work, the Contractor shall provide all necessary personnel thoroughly familiar with the Specifications and Drawings, completely trained and experienced in the necessary skills, who shall be present at the site and direct all work performed. B. Conditions of Surfaces: Surfaces previously prepared or installed by another trade shall be inspected carefully before applying subsequent materials or finishes. If an unsatisfactory condition to that finish exists, notify the General Contractor and CPM in writing immediately. Otherwise assume full responsibility for resulting appearance, condition and acceptance of finished surfaces. C. Covering Up: No Contractor or Subcontractor shall cover up work or conceal work of other Contractor/Subcontractor until same has been inspected and/or approved. 1.5 REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) A. General: Immediately on discovery of the need for additional information, clarification, or interpretation of the Contract Documents, Contractor shall prepare and submit an RFI in the form specified. 1. CPM will return without response those RFIs submitted by other entities controlled by Contractor. 2. Coordinate and submit RFIs in a prompt manner so as to avoid delays in Contractor's work or work of subcontractors. B. Content of the RFI: Include a detailed, legible description of item needing information or interpretation and the following: 1. Owner name. 2. Project Name 3. Name of CPM. 4. Date. 5. Name of Contractor. 6. RFI number, numbered sequentially. 7. RFI subject. 8. Specification Section number and title and related paragraphs, as appropriate. 9. Drawing number and detail references, as appropriate. 10. Field dimensions and conditions, as appropriate. 11. Contractor's suggested resolution. If Contractor's suggested resolution impacts the Contract Time or the Contract Sum, Contractor shall state schedule and cost impact in the RFI. 12. Contractor's signature. Unique submittal number, including revision identifier. Include Specification Section number with sequential alphanumeric identifier; and alphanumeric suffix for resubmittals. 6. Number and title of Specification Section, with paragraph number and generic name for each of multiple items. 7. Drawing number and detail references, as appropriate. 8. Options: Identify options requiring selection by CPM. C. Indicate by highlighting on each submittal or noting on attached separate sheet. D. Submittals shall be electronic. 1.5 SUBMITTAL PROCEDURES A. Prepare and submit submittals required by individual Specification Sections. Types of submittals are indicated in individual Specification Sections. 1. Email: Prepare submittals as PDF package, and transmit to CPM by sending via email. Include PDF transmittal form. Include information in email subject line as requested by CPM. B. Coordination: Coordinate preparation and processing of submittals with performance of construction activities. 1. Coordinate each submittal with fabrication, purchasing, testing, delivery, other submittals, and related activities that require sequential activity. 2. Submit all submittal items required for each Specification Section concurrently unless partial submittals for portions of the Work are indicated on approved submittal schedule. 3. Submit action submittals and informational submittals required by the same Specification Section as separate packages under separate transmittals. C. Processing Time: Allow time for submittal review, including time for resubmittals, as follows. Time for review shall commence on receipt of submittal. No extension of the Contract Time will be authorized because of failure to transmit submittals enough in advance of the Work to permit processing, including resubmittals. 1. Initial Review: Allow 10 days for initial review of each submittal. Allow additional time if coordination with subsequent submittals is required. 2. R esubmittal Review: Allow 10 days for review of each resubmittal. D. Resubmittals: Make resubmittals in same form and number of copies as initial submittal. E. Distribution: Furnish copies of final submittals to manufacturers, subcontractors, suppliers, fabricators, installers, authorities having jurisdiction, and others as necessary for performance of construction activities. Examination and Acceptance of Conditions: Before proceeding with each component of the Work, examine substrates, areas, and conditions, with Installer or Applicator present where indicated, for compliance with requirements for installation tolerances and other conditions affecting performance. Record observations. B. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. Proceeding with the Work indicates acceptance of surfaces and conditions. 3.2 PREPARATION A. Field Measurements: Take field measurements as required to fit the Work properly. Recheck measurements before installing each product. Where portions of the Work are indicated to fit to other construction, verify dimensions of other construction by field m easurements before fabrication. Coordinate fabrication schedule with construction progress to avoid delaying the Work. B. Review of Contract Documents and Field Conditions: Immediately on discovery of the need for clarification of the Contract Documents, submit a request for information to CPM in accordance with requirements in Section 013100 "Project Management and Coordination." 3.3 CONSTRUCTION LAYOUT A. Verification: Before proceeding to lay out the Work, verify layout information shown on Drawings. 3.4 INSTALLATION A. Locate the Work and components of the Work accurately, in correct alignment and elevation, as indicated. B. Comply with manufacturers written instructions and recommendations for installing products in a pplications indicated. C. Install products at the time and under conditions that will ensure satisfactory results as judged by CPM. Maintain conditions required for product performance until Substantial Completion. D. Coordinate construction operations with CPM to assure minimal impacts on continuing operations. E. Sequence the Work and allow adequate clearances to accommodate movement of construction items on-site and placement in permanent locations. F. Work Areas: Clean areas where Work is in progress to the level of cleanliness necessary for proper execution of the Work. 1. Remove liquid spills promptly. 2. Where dust would impair proper execution of the Work, broom-clean or vacuum the entire work area, as appropriate. D. Installed Work: Keep installed work clean.
