Background
The Kronos program is a United States Space Force (USSF) initiative to develop a modern, integrated battle management and command-and-control (C2) Family of Systems that enhances decision advantage for joint and coalition space operations. Kronos is designed to integrate modular, extensible, and interoperable software solutions that support operational planning, execution, and assessment across the space domain while modernizing legacy capabilities and enabling rapid integration of commercial innovation.
The Kronos Family of Systems is currently focused around three primary Areas of Interest (AOIs):
- AOI 1 – Operational Command and Control (C2): Enables operational-level C2 capabilities supporting mission planning, coordination, execution, and shared situational awareness.
- AOI 2 – Battle Management: Focuses on the orchestration and optimization of space domain resources, including planning, deconfliction, tasking, and mission assessment functions.
- AOI 3 – Space Intelligence Integration: Provides intelligence and space domain awareness capabilities that support battlespace characterization, collection planning, targeting support, and enhanced understanding of the operational environment.
