Description
The Indian Health Service is pleased to announce the 4th Annual Buy Indian Industry Day, co-hosted by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Department of the Interior (DOI), and APEX Accelerators. This event is taking place on April 27–28, 2026, at the OKANA Conference Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
“Buy Indian Industry Day reflects our commitment to strengthening partnerships with Indian-owned businesses and expanding economic opportunity across Indian Country,” said IHS Chief of Staff Clayton Fulton. “By increasing access to federal contracting opportunities, we support tribal sovereignty, promote economic self-determination, and help build stronger, healthier communities.”
The Buy Indian Act of 1910 authorizes IHS and the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) to give preference to Indian-owned and controlled businesses when procuring goods and services, supporting the growth of tribal economies. Buy Indian Industry Day will provide Indian-owned businesses with:
- Information on upcoming contracting opportunities
- Guidance on the Buy Indian Act procurement process
- Networking opportunities with IHS and BIA leadership and contracting officials
- Resources to help businesses successfully compete for federal contracts
In fiscal year 2025, the IHS awarded over $515 million—28.5 percent of eligible contract dollars—to Indian-owned economic enterprises. Increased participation in federal procurement strengthens tribal economies, creates jobs, and reinvests resources locally, contributing to stronger health systems and improved health outcomes for American Indian and Alaska Native communities.
The event underscores IHS’s continued focus on maximizing the use of the Buy Indian Act and expanding access to federal contracting opportunities across Indian Country.

The signal updates as new awarded notices enter the system. Always validate the official award and solicitation details on SAM.gov.
