Description

Special Notice Special Notice Page 4 of 4 *= Required Field Special Notice Page 1 of 4 This notice is issued in accordance with FAR 5.2 and serves as a notice of intent to award a sole-source contract. It is NOT a request for quotes. The Government may, at its discretion, consider responses to this notice. However, at this time, only one responsible source is currently identified as capable of meeting agency needs. The Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN 1, intends to award a 5-year firm-fixed-price contract to GETINGE USA SALES, LLC for the maintenance and repair of sterilizer equipment at the Northampton VA Medical Center. The contract will cover both preventive and corrective maintenance services as outlined in the Statement of Work (SOW). The required services encompass emergency service, unlimited parts, factory-authorized updates and modifications, technical and application support, and scheduled inspections in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) guidelines. Additional provisions include up to two hours of remote telephone assistance, coverage for preventive maintenance parts, on-site support with a one-business-day response time, repair travel and labor for corrective maintenance, and replacement parts as needed. The contractor will also ensure a 98% uptime commitment to maintain high operational availability. Justification for Sole Source: Getinge Care Service is the exclusive provider of OEM-certified technicians authorized to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on Getinge sterilizer equipment. As the service division of the OEM, Getinge adheres to stringent service standards to ensure compliance with FDA requirements and guarantees that equipment meets OEM specifications throughout its lifecycle. Getinge USA provides emergency service, unlimited parts, factory-authorized updates and modifications, technical and application support, and preventive maintenance all delivered by trained and certified OEM technicians. To ensure timely resolution and minimize downtime, Getinge employs a formal escalation process that progresses through multiple levels of support, from regional senior service representatives to Service Operations Specialists. Engaging any other vendor would compromise equipment integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational reliability risks that cannot be effectively mitigated through competition. Interested parties may submit a response demonstrating their capability to meet the requirements outlined in this notice by the due date specified. Responses should include sufficient evidence to show that competition would be advantageous to the Government. Information received will be used solely to determine whether a competitive procurement is appropriate. The Government reserves the right to make this determination at its sole discretion. No reimbursement will be provided for any costs incurred in preparing or submitting a response. Please refer to the attached SOW for a detailed list of the equipment to be serviced and a comprehensive description of the required services.
