1. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE :

The State of Tennessee, Tennessee Historical Commission (THC) issues this Request for
Information (“RFI”) for the purpose of gathering information on vendor services and qualifications
for historic preservation work . We appreciate your input and participation in this process .
2. BACKGROUND:

The T HC’s State Historic Site (SHS) Program administers 19 properties of historical significance
across the state of Tennessee. One of the responsibilities of the SHS Program is to administer
the maintenance and repair of the structures on those properties. These p roperties are inherently
historically significant and require specialized skillsets to make maintenance repairs. These
repairs also require adherence to the National Park Service Preservation Briefs and Technical
Preservation Notes. The type of experience needed to adhere to these guidelines include s but is
not limited to window restoration, finishing carpentry, linseed oil and other historic painting
knowledge , historic roofing material knowledge , historic brick masonry /tuckpointing knowledge,
and stone working knowledge. The THC is seeking information on services, qualifications, and
availability for vendors to fulfill ongoing maintenance requests and historic preservation needs to
all 19 properties across the state.

solicitations related to this project and a response to this RFI will not create any contract
rights. Responses to this RFI will become property of the State.
5.2. The information gathered during this RFI is part of an ongoing procurement. In order to
prevent an unfair advantage among potential respondents, the RFI responses will not be
available until after the completion of evaluation of any responses, proposals , or bids
resulting from a Request for Qualifications, Request for Proposals, Invitation to Bid or other
procurement method. In the event that the state chooses not to go further in the
procurement process and responses are never evaluated, the responses t o the
procurement including the responses to the RFI, will be considered confidential by the
State .
5.3. The State will not pay for any costs associated with responding to this RFI.
