RFP Joint System Canal Hydropower Design Project

The Medford Irrigation District invites proposals from qualified hydro engineering firms for the Joint System Canal (JSC) Hydropower Design Project. This project integrates in-conduit hydropower generation into the 13.6-mile Joint System Canal, which serves the Medford and Rogue River Valley Irrigation Districts. The hydropower component will align with the canal modernization efforts, which include piping to enhance water conservation, reliability, and infrastructure resilience. SOW Attached.

This project integrates in-conduit hydropower generation into the 13.6-mile Joint System Canal, which serves the Medford and Rogue River Valley Irrigation Districts. The hydropower component will align with the canal modernization efforts, which include piping to enhance water conservation, reliability, and infrastructure resilience.
The selected engineering firm will deliver a 50%-level engineering design for the hydropower system, addressing technical, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Coordination with the Farmers Conservation Alliance (FCA) Watershed Planning Team is essential to ensure the alignment of hydropower integration with broader water conservation goals.
