Print Bid Title: Cemetery Chapel Safe Request for Bids Category: Cemetery Status: Closed Description: The Belfast Cemetery Department is requesting bids for a safe that was donated in the early 1900’s. The safe was manufactured by York Safe and Lock Co., York PA. Date unknown when made. It has a combination lock by Yake Lock Mfg., Stamford Connecticut, with a patent of Nov 2, 1880. The safe has been in the City's possession since 1917 and has been housed in the Chapel at Grove Cemetery since then. The safe was donated by Edgar F. Hanson, former Mayor of Belfast. We have removed the safe from the Chapel and stored it at the Public Works facility at 54 Crocker Road in Belfast. The winning bidder must be able to come and get the safe at Public Works and properly move it to their destination. We may be able to help load it for you on a trailer. If you wish to bid on this safe you must provide the following 1. Your name 2. Address 3. Contact # 4. Bid amount (minimum 200 dollars) 5. Bid amount must be written out This information must be delivered or sent in an envelope to the City Clerk's Office: Belfast City Hall Attn: Clerk’s Office 131 Church St. Belfast ME,04915 The envelope must be marked “Cemetery Safe Bid”. All bids are due to the City Clerk's Office by December 1st, 2025, before 1:00 PM. Bids will be opened at 1 PM or as soon as possible thereafter. The highest bidder will be notified, and have a week to reply. If no one replies within that time, the next highest bidder will be awarded the safe. The winning bidder must be able to retrieve and move the safe at from the Public Works Facility at 54 Crocker Road. The City of Belfast reserves the right to reject all bids, to waive any technicalities or formalities and select any bid that it deems to be in the best interest of the City.
