Description

The University is seeking an EHR system tailored to UHCO’s specific clinical, research, administrative, educational, and operational needs. In addition to comprehensive electronic medical record functionality, the system must include patient communication tools, inventory management for retail goods, appointment scheduling, and revenue cycle management. The EHR must also enhance the quality of both primary and specialty eye care, support our teaching mission, and streamline clinical operations — all while reducing cognitive burden and preparing us for future integration with diagnostic technologies and artificial intelligence The contractor must provide an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system that includes tools to manage patient care, billing, communication, and optical inventory. The system can be cloud-based or hosted on-site, but it must be flexible enough to support multiple clinic locations and up to 125 faculty, 450 students, and 175 staff using it at the same time. If cloud-based, it must meet state or federal security standards, Texas or Federal RAMP Certification, and be able to continue operating during internet outages. The system must support around 50,000 patient visits per year. Ideally, installation would start in May 2026, with full launch in August 2026. It must also be able to transfer all data, including patient and billing records, from our current system.
