Print Bid Title: Passy Rail Trail Feasibility Study Category: Economic Development Status: Closed Description: This is a Request For Proposals for engineering and design services to prepare a conceptual plan that identifies the feasibility of constructing about 2.15 miles (11,250 feet) of a multi-use pedestrian and bicycle path within the limits of an active railroad right-of-way located adjacent to the Passagassawakeag River (the “Passy”). This feasibility study has been funded in part by a 2012 State Planning Office “Coastal Competitive” grant award to assist the Belfast City Council in determining whether the desired new pedestrian uses can be designed and engineered to coexist with the continued operation of the Belfast and Moosehead Lake Railway, within the Railroad right-of-way. If no practical and safe manner to accommodate all desired uses can be found, we anticipate that the results of this feasibility study will be considered by the Council in making choices among the alternatives explored by the selected consultant team through a well-publicized process of public participation.
