Notice is hereby given that the City of Morgantown will accept sealed bids for the REPAIRS TO VAULTED SIDEWALKS AT CITY HALL project, located at 389 Spruce Street, Morgantown, West Virginia. The project involves the repair of historic sidewalk vault ceilings, constructed in 1924 with reinforced concrete, and covering approximately 900 square feet. The existing concrete ceilings will be removed, as well as the existing sidewalks. New concrete vault ceilings will be installed, and covered with a new waterproofing membrane and drainage layer. A new concrete wearing slab will be installed above this. New concrete sidewalks will be installed that align with the top surface of the new wearing slab. Miscellaneous electrical, heating, and plumbing system components, which are located within the vaults, are to be removed prior to removing the concrete vault ceilings. The project will be broken into two phases of work, such that the main entrance to City Hall is accessible to the public at all normal working hours. The vehicle lane closest to City Hall will be closed for the duration of the project. Sealed bids will be received by the City of Morgantown on or before 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 9, 2019. Sealed bids must be delivered to the Morgantown City Hall, 389 Spruce Street, Morgantown, West Virginia. At that time all sealed bids will be opened and read aloud. Interested parties are invited to attend the bid opening. Any bids received after the deadline will not be accepted. Prospective bidders may purchase copies of Bidding Documents from the Architect. Cost of Bidding Documents is $75 per set, plus any shipping and handling fees. These are non-refundable fees. Tuesday, September 17th, 2019. at the project site located at 389 Spruce Street., Morgantown, West Virginia. ATTENDANCE IS STRONGLY ENCOURAGED, but not required. The meeting will include reviewing the drawings and the project site. A certified check or bank draft, payable to City of Morgantown, or satisfactory bid bond executed by the bidder and acceptable sureties in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the base bid must be submitted with each bid. The successful bidder will be required to furnish satisfactory performance and payment bonds signed by a West Virginia agent. The City of Morgantown will negotiate with the contractor to determine the method of contract security best suited for the project. Bids must be made on a lump sum basis. Neither U.S. Department of Labor Wage Rates, nor West Virginia Division of Labor Wage Rates apply to this project. No bid shall be withdrawn for a period of ninety (90) days after the time of bid opening without the consent of the Owner.
