Print Bid Number: #2018-22 Bid Title: Sanborn Blvd Utility and Street Improvements Phase I Category: Public Works Status: Closed Description: The City Council of Mitchell, South Dakota, will receive sealed bids for their Sanborn Blvd Utility and Street Improvements – Phase I until 2:00 p.m. (local time), Friday, January 26, 2018, at the office of the Finance Officer, in the City Hall located at 612 North Main Street, Mitchell, South Dakota. Received sealed bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at the above place and time. A pre-bid conference will be held at City Hall located at 612 North Main Street, Mitchell, South Dakota, at 10:00 a.m. (local time), Friday, January 19, 2018. Attending the conference is encouraged but not mandatory. Bids are invited upon the items and approximate quantities of work as follows: Bid Schedule A Approximately 12,430 square yards of concrete surfacing removal, 3,050 linear feet of concrete curb and gutter removal, 1,275 square yards of sidewalk removal, 1,470 linear feet of eight-inch water main, 150 feet of bored encasement pipe, 26 water service lines, 1,260 linear feet of 12-inch sewer main, 5 sanitary sewer manholes, 39 sanitary sewer services, 3 2’x3’ Type B inlets, 120 tons of asphalt surfacing, 3,260 square yards of 9” concrete surfacing, 1,040 square yards of concrete approach pavement, 13,140 square feet of concrete sidewalk, and all related appurtenances to the aforementioned work. Bid Schedule B – Asphalt Surfacing Approximately 7,700 cubic yards of unclassified excavation, 4,600 tons of asphalt surfacing, 9,180 tons of gravel base course, 2,615 linear feet of eight-inch concrete curb and gutter, 185 square yards of concrete fillet section, and all related appurtenances to the aforementioned work. Bid Schedule C – Concrete Surfacing Approximately 5,100 cubic yards of unclassified excavation, 80 tons of asphalt surfacing, 5,830 tons of gravel base course, 9,190 square yards of nine-inch concrete surfacing, 2,615 linear feet of nine-inch concrete curb and gutter, 185 square yards of concrete fillet section, and all related appurtenances to the aforementioned work. The approximate quantities mentioned above are subject to increase or decrease. It will be agreed by bidders that all quantities of work will be performed in accordance with the provisions of the plans and specifications and at the unit price bid. Bidders agree to furnish all labor, material, and equipment necessary to complete all the work as shown in the plans and specifications. The complete set of Contract Documents, including drawings and specifications, is on file with the Finance Officer, City Hall, Mitchell, South Dakota 57301, and/or at the office of Schmucker, Paul, Nohr and Associates, 2100 North Sanborn Blvd, Mitchell, South Dakota 57301. A paper copy of the contract documents and plans can be ordered with a non-refundable payment of $35 plus applicable sales taxes. The contract documents and plans will also be made available at the SPN web site www.spn-assoc.com with a non-refundable payment of $20. Upon request, one copy of the contract documents and plans will be furnished at no charge as required by SDCL 5-18B-1 to each Contractor who is a South Dakota resident and who intends to bid the project. Each bid must be accompanied by a certified check or bank draft payable to the order of the City of Mitchell, South Dakota, in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the total bid. A bid bond in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the total bid will be accepted in lieu of a certified check or bank draft. Surety for bid bond must be authorized to do business in the State of South Dakota. Pursuant to State Law, a copy of the bidder’s sales and use tax license and a copy of the bidder’s excise tax license as issued by the State of South Dakota must accompany the bid. In lieu of a copy of the license, the bidder shall submit appropriate evidence that the bidder and all affiliates have the appropriate licenses. Bidders are advised that any contracts awarded on this project will be funded by the City of Mitchell. Bids may be held by the City Council of Mitchell, South Dakota, for a period of not more than thirty (30) days from the date of opening of bids for the purpose of reviewing the bids, investigating the qualifications of the bidders and completing financial arrangements prior to awarding the Work. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any informalities in the bidding and make awards to the Owner’s best interest.
