Description
<p>The Governing Board of the St. Johns River Water Management District is requesting sealed bids for a per ton timber sale comprised of approximately 151.3 acres (“Sale Area”) within the Longleaf Flatwoods Reserve, located in Alachua County, Florida. The Sale Area is in Section 12; Township 11 South; Range 21 East and it is accessed at 10742 South County Road 325, Hawthorne, Florida. Sale boundaries include roads, swamps, marked property boundary, and obvious change in timber type (Maps are included in the attached agreement.)</p><p>This timber sale is a combination of marked and logger-select thinning within mature slash pine stands previously thinned 10 years ago. Trees for harvest in marked stands are marked with blue paint at eye level. In the logger-select area thin trees to achieve a density of 45 to 50 square feet of basal area per acre and harvest them based on the following criteria: diseased, defective, and suppressed trees shall be harvested first, followed by a portion of the intermediate and co-dominant trees to reach the desired density. The District estimates the volume of timber conveyed in this Agreement to be 3,640 tons of pine pulpwood, 750 tons of chip-n-saw, but there is no guarantee that the volume is present. </p>
