Print Bid Title: Leddy Park Bike Park Design/Build – Phase I Category: Current Requests for Quotes, Proposals and Bids Status: Closed Description: PLEASE SEE PDF FOR FULL RFP INFO AND INSTRUCTIONS: Leddy Bike Park Design & Build RFP PROJECT DESCRIPTION The intent of this Request for Proposals is to retain a qualified Bike Park Design/Build Company or Team to finalize the design plans, file any necessary permits, and construct Phase I of the new Leddy Bike Park. The exact number and type of bike park features will be determined by the proposal submitted by the Design/Build Team, based on probable costs, as well as consideration for donated labor, equipment, and construction materials. Trails and features should be constructed to accommodate adaptive three and four wheeled adaptive cycles (aMTBs) to the largest extent possible. The Design/Build Team should utilize standards such as the Kootenay Adaptive Sport Association’s Adaptive Trail Standards to ensure aMTB compatibility. These standards include a minimum 48” trail width, and best practices for the radius of turns, spacing between rollers, and pitch of berms. All trails except for the black diamond rated jump line must be aMTB accessible. A large pile of sandy subsoil (appx 300 CY) excavated from the construction of a bioswale within Leddy Park in 2023, is currently stockpiled on the south side of the ice arena’s parking lot for potential reuse to construct any natural surface features of the Bike Park. During excavation the material was visually examined and roughly classified as sandy subsoil. With the location of Phase I within a wooded section of the park, the design should take care to minimize removal of and adverse impacts to large canopy trees or other sensitive vegetation, and to preserve the woodland character of the space. Prior to construction, the trail alignment and significant features must be flagged out in the field for review. Leddy Park was formerly the site of a rendering and fertilizer plant from 1904 to 1960. Several construction projects around the Arena parking lot have uncovered contaminated soils and materials related to this prior land use. While available historical and environmental data (see Exhibit C) does not suggest a high likelihood for contamination at the Bike Park location, the project design should lean toward using clean fill to build up from the existing grade and minimize large or deep excavations, reducing the likelihood to encounter any unknown areas of contamination. The BPRW Review Team for this project may include but is not limited to: members of BPRW’s Planning, Grounds, Trees, and Conservation Teams and BPRW’s Director. External Project Team members may include members of the BBPC, the City’s Accessibility Committee, and the City’s Racial Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (REIB) Team. (edited 10/30/2024 per Addendum 1) The current maximum limiting budget for both the design and construction of Phase I is $125,000. 10/30/2024: Addendum 1 issued and available for download below. 11/06/2024: Addendum 2 issued and available for download below.
