ADVERTISEMENT FOR BID The PENTA Building Group on Behalf of California State University, Long Beach (¿CSULB¿) An Equal Opportunity Employer is requesting, subject to conditions prescribed by CSULB, proposals from potential subcontractors for the following project: California State University, Long Beach University Student Union Renovation and Expansion Phase 2D Project No. 0624SS002 City/Location: Long Beach, CA Owner: California State University, Long Beach Project Design Builder: PENTA|Gensler Project Description: The overall objective of the project is to design, renovate, and expand the existing University Student Union (¿USU¿) building. The project consists of the complete renovation of the existing 3-story, 128,300 SF Student Union, construction of a 2-story 61,000SF addition, as well as 255,000 SF of sitework. The new construction is expected to be a Type 1B structure. Project milestone, Onsite Construction, completion is scheduled for May 15, 2028. Overall budget for the project is approximately $190MM. Bid Schedule: Bids will be due Friday, March 20, 2026 @ 12:00pm PST. Late submissions will not be accepted and will be deemed unresponsive and rejected. Scope of Work: Furnish all labor, materials, equipment, engineering, design, and services necessary to provide a complete and fully operational installation for an interior water feature. Subcontract Review and Comment: Bidders to review and comment on sample subcontract agreement provided in this package. Comments provided after this RFP stage will not be considered and it will be assumed bidder will execute the contract documents without exception. Bidders will commit to reach mutually agreeable contract terms. Contract Award Process: Proposals will be reviewed for completeness, responsiveness, and responsibility. Award will be made to the subcontractor whose proposal is determined to be the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Bidders will also need to be prequalified with PENTA¿s risk management team prior to being awarded any contracts. Mandatory DVBE Participation: This project has a mandatory three (3) percent participation for disabled veteran business enterprises (DVBE) pursuant to the California state law for state contracts. Therefore, we encourage DVBE subcontractors and vendors to participate in this bidding effort. Five (5) percent bid advantage up to a maximum of $50,000 may be provided for firms that hold a current certification as a ¿Disabled Veteran Business Enterprises¿ by the California Department of General Services. SBE Participation: This project has a GOAL of twenty-five (25) percent participation for small business enterprises (SBE). Therefore, we encourage SBE subcontractors and vendors to participate in this bidding effort. Five (5) percent bid advantage up to a maximum of $50,000 may be provided for firms that hold a current certification as a ¿Small Business¿ by the California Department of General Services or that qualify as ¿Non-Small Business¿ by subcontracting a minimum of 25% of their scope to small business firms that are certified Small Business by the California Department of General Services. Signatory to Carpenter¿s Union: The PENTA Building Group is signatory to the Carpenter¿s Union. All scopes of work that will employ Carpenters on-site will need to be performed by Union Carpenters. This project will be enrolled in an Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) during construction. Successful Bidders will participate in this program. Bidders are required to exclude from their bid price only the cost of coverage provided by the OCIP Program. Refer to the OCIP Manual provided with the RFP for details. The PENTA Building Group reserves the sole right to waive any irregularities or requirements, or provide additional opportunities to prequalify, if insufficient responses for prequalification are received.
