Print Bid Number: 36 - 2025 Bid Title: City Hay Lease - Section 21-T110N-R50W Category: Airport Bids Status: Closed Description: The bid is to be an annual per acre amount for approximately 85 acres of hay land located in the SE ¼ of Section 21-T110N-R50W (west of the Brookings Regional Airport). The hay land will be rented for a period of one (1) year for 2026 to the highest responsive and responsible bidder. The Bidder may have the option to extend for two (2) additional one (1) year terms (2027 and 2028) if agreed to by the City and the bidder. The City will determine if the property will be leased for one additional year and if so, Tenant may provide written notice of Tenant’s intent to renew to City no later than sixty (60) days prior to expiration of the current lease term. Note: If agreed upon by both parties, the per acre price shall increase by 2% each year through the term of the contract. The successful bidder will be responsible for primary noxious weed control. Satisfactory weed control shall be defined as not letting weeds reach the blooming stage, either through the use of chemicals or mowing. The annual rent shall be as follows: The annual rent shall be as follows: the first half will be due on July 1 , and the second half shall be due on November 1 of each year. In the event rented area is removed for any reason, those acres will be deducted from the amount owed. The Lessee shall not assign or sublet this Lease without the prior written consent of the Lessor. Qualifications: All bids must be signed and submitted in a sealed envelope and shall state on the left-hand corner of the envelope “City Hay Lease, Section 21-110-50.” Any bids received after the deadline will not be accepted. Special Requirements: Bids may not be withdrawn within thirty (30) days after the actual opening thereof. Action on the bids will occur within 30 days of the bid opening. The City of Brookings reserves the right to waive irregularities and to reject any and all bids.
